Description
A simple and delicious way to prepare broccoli, broiled to perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound broccoli florets (from about 1 large head)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
- Place an oven rack in the middle or top third of the oven, aiming for about 6 inches of space between the rack and the broiler element. Preheat your broiler on its highest setting.
- Transfer the broccoli florets to a large rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle with the olive oil and sprinkle with the salt, then toss until well coated.
- Spread the florets out on the sheet, making sure there’s at least an inch of space between every floret and the edges of the pan, as this will ensure the florets char instead of steam.
- Place the baking sheet on the oven rack and broil the broccoli until the florets are deeply browned and blackened in places and the stems are just fork-tender, 8 to 12 minutes. The timing will depend on your oven and the size of your florets.
- Serve immediately as desired. Leftover burnt broccoli can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Notes
- Enjoy this recipe as a side dish with your favorite main course.
- Feel free to adjust the cooking time based on the size of the broccoli florets.
