Description

A simple and delicious sugar cookie recipe that is perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
  7. Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Cut into shapes using cookie cutters.
  9. Place cut-out cookies on an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart.
  10. Bake for 8-10 minutes until barely golden around the edges.
  11. Allow cookies to cool on a wire rack before decorating as desired.
