- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
- Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut into shapes using cookie cutters.
- Place cut-out cookies on an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until barely golden around the edges.
- Allow cookies to cool on a wire rack before decorating as desired.
